Problems with damaged goods

Hi,
I recently bought a secondhand car part, I had it delivered to where I work to ensure that someone would be there.
It was delivered on a day when I was off, and it was signed for by our receptionist. On my return it was obvious that the part was damaged, without unwrapping it. I rang the supplier and I was told that as the part was signed for, and it was not stated as damaged, then it was tough and I could not claim the money back.
I am now £200 out of pocket, surely there must be some comeback on the courier company.
Any help will be appreciated.

Do not accept this must be signed for as damaged rubbish and forget the courier company you have a contract with the supplier not the courier company
Write don't phone, to the supplier giving details and refer to the phone conversation. Point out that under the Sale Of Goods Act the items have to be of satisfactory quality even though second hand.
Give them 14 days to refund or replace or you will take court action. If they fail to sort out the problem then take action through the small claims court.
