Lost ring - home insurance question

I have managed to lose/misplace my wedding ring
I think it may have fallen off my hand whilst de-icing the car but not sure.
I would like to claim on my house insurance - will they accept this reason?
or would a better story be more plausable? - any suggestions ??
thanks

No that will be fine providing you have cover for personal possessions.
Most policies also have a single article limit - normally £750 to £1000. If it was worth more than then it would have to have been specified.0 -
You shouldnt lie about these things but you need to check if you are covered.
As mattymoo says, jewelry falls under personal possessions cover (an option that most do not include). In fact it falls under it twice in a way because it was outside of the home as well.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I had to specify mine because of the cost. It is better if you are just honest and dont put off reporting it otherwise that looks a bit odd.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

It doesnt make any difference if it fell off your hand de-icing the car or in the sink. It comes under personal possessions cover regardless.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Just say it fell off your hand when you were washing up as you normally take it off before doing the dishes as it's a bit loose but this time you forgoet and it went straight down the sink hole and you weren't able to recover it.
In which case it would be in the U bend under the sink.

DON'T make up a story. Tell the truth.
If your insurers get a wiff of anything suspicious, not only will you get nothing for your genuine loss, but you will unnecessarily tarnish your insurance history for good.
Your loss as described is covered - your insurers could only refuse to settle the claim if they didn't believe you for some reason. Don't give them that reason.0
