Noisy central heating / hot water system

I wonder if anyone can help ...

Whenever we have the central heating on and use either the shower / bath or a hot water tap, we get a loud droning noise anything up to 2 hours afterwards. The noise lasts a few minutes. If we turn a radiator up higher or turn a hot tap on full blast the noise stops, but starts again when we turn the tap off.

Has anyone got any ideas on what could be the problem ?

  • If you have a combi and the noise is coming from it then I would suspect it to be the diverter within it.
Lots of stories about diverters on this board!
A few details will help pin down the problem.

  • We do have a combi boiler and have already had the diverter replaced 4 months ago. Is there anything else it could be ?
  • How old is it and what make and model.?
