Hello everyone,

I havent used the forum in a while and the last time was to request your help in finding me a cheap tarriff as British Gas were robbing me blind! Thanks to thegreat help I received I did find a great tarrif with Scottish Power.. Online Saver 8.

However as we all know Scottish power are going to be hiking their proces and I need help deciding what to do for the best.. once again!

I wanted to change off the saver 8 anyway as my monthly direct debits always seemed to go up substantially every year during the summer so that I am now paying £75 a month.. started at £35!

I only use approx 2268 Kw of Electricity a year and 10537 in gas so around £810 a year, as I only have a 2 bed terrace.

I have gone onto the comparison sites and they tell me my cheapest bet is to go with EDF Online saver v10 - £155 saving a year or a capped would be with either Npower Go Fix 6 - £108 saving or EDF Fixed saver v2 saving £103 a year. Anyone got any opinions on these guys or the tarrifs I have read that N Power are rubbish and break promisies???

What is the opinion on capping before the oncoming hikes.. will it really save us a huge amount or will we suffer in 6 months time if we cap and prices fall!

Should I cap or go to just another online saver, would it really save me a massive amount??

Any advice, assistance etc would be greatly appreciated once again!

    Same situation here.

Currently with Southern Electric for both gas and electric and looking to go elsewhere.

Whittled it down to EDF Energy but can't decide whether to plump for their online saver tariff, or, go with their fixed saver v2.

My head says to fix it, but a gamble says to go for the cheapest (at the moment). Difference in price between the two at present would be roughly £50-£60 per annum.

    ARGH!

A fix is buying you insurance against further rises, it's not necessarily going to be cheaper. Basically you pay a premium to get peace of mind.
