    hi

    my old is...
new is the cuff pearl bracelet that OH is buying for me :-)
borrowed is my sisters pearl ear-rings that she wore at her wedding 10 years ago
blue is the garter that same sister has given me , again she wore it at her wedding :-)

i think/ hope that future MIL will cover the something old bit for me
  • I am struggling

    I have something blue (Garter)
I have something New (Wedding Dress)

I need something New and something borrowed, but my family hasn't got anything I can borrow nor old, so I don't know what I am going to do. I might grab a old picture of my grandad and grandma (now deceased) and put them in a little photo frame and attaching them to somewhere on my boquet (like my handle). Don't know about something borrowed?

What a lovely idea, I might nick your idea, if you don't mind, so I can carry a picture of my Dad!

Of course you can! I thought they will be there with me on my big day and it is something old, because the photo's are old from like 1970's!

    I'm struggling too.

    Something old: Me
Something new: Dress, tiara, veil, flowers
Something borrowed: my plan was to borrow some jewellery from my mum but she has nothing I like so back to square one
    Something blue: possibly a garter.

The old, new, borrowed, blue is about covered by my MiL who's making my garter. She made me try it on at the weekend and I cried! It's made from material from her wedding dress and has a band of material from her mothers wedding dress (so my H2B's Grandmother). She's sewn a blue ribbon on the inside and borrowed a football pin badge from our son to put on it too. There's 'something else' but she's not telling me what it is. Whatever it is, it's bound to make me cry!
My mother has just 'reclaimed' an old family ring which I'll wear too- borrowed and old; my shoes and dress are new and I've blue 'I Do' diamante under my shoes!
1 month tomorrow and it's all complete reality!

    This is what I had:

Old - my mum's engagement & wedding rings that she gave to me before she died
New - earrings to match my tiara & watch from my OH the night before we were married
Borrowed - my brother lent me my mums locket that she gave to him before she died
Blue - my garter made with fabric from the bridesmaid dress my aunt / godmother wore when my parents married (so another "old")

    I had:

Something old: I regularly wear a locket that was my nan's. I already had a bridal necklace so I had the locket put onto a charm bracelet for the day.
Something new: Dress, pants, veil, shoes, tiara, necklace.... :D
Something borrowed: I borrowed a ring from MIL; it was her mum's engagement ring. I wore that on my right hand.
Something blue: The hoop for my dress came with a little blue bow sewn onto it. :D

Silver sixpence for my shoe: Bought off ebay for about £2. I got one from the year that my nan was born. :)

All of it sounds lovely,my grandad passed on st paddys day this year and i know he would have loved to have been at my wedding so a part of my grandad will be there to
  • Is anyone NOT doing this tradition??

i have the new (dress) and old (my engagement ring belonged to OH's Mum), but not borrowed or blue. But I'm beginning to wonder if I'm bothered about trying to find anything...
