Is it ok to put a microwave on top of a condenser tumble dryer?

As above really? We have a baby on the way, and I'm trying to get everything sorted. We decided we want to get a tumble dryer to help with the mounds of washing the little'un will produce, and was hoping we could put the microwave on top to save some worktop space.

Is it ok or is it a no-no? Google has lots of people saying it is fine, and lots saying it isn't but with no actual reasons why.

Thanks!

Does the tumble drier vent through grilles, or via a hose?

Only thing that I could see being a problem could be humidity from the tumble affecting the operation of the microwave, or the food.

    Don't see any other issues.

If the condenser is working properly humidity should be unaffected.

  • Thanks for the quick replies.

Yeah it is going to be a condenser, so humidity shouldn't be an issue. My concern was the movement of the dryer as well as it spins. Is this likely to be an issue?

It shouldn't be a problem at all, dryers don't spin fast or move about or even cause vibrations, we've had many things on top of ours in the past including another dryer on top running at the same time!

One thing I would say is don't use them both at the same time specially if they are plugged into an extension lead together or a double adaptor, ideally they need to be in their own socket on the wall.

  • Thanks chaps. That is the confirmation I was after. I couldn't see it being a problem myself, but just wanted to make sure before I went and spent my hard earned. :)
