Credit cards abroad

Hi there,

What are the best credit cards to use abroad (off to Canada in a few weeks)? I used to have a Nationwide card that had 0% loading etc which was great, but I no longer have that or any NW accounts to get one (and I think they changed the terms anyway).

thanks Tixy - have applied for Halifax card - had picked up a Post Office form but Halifax has lower interest rates and free cash withdrawal (you pay interest on that though as always).
(although as it happens I pay in full)

You'll still pay interest on cash, because there are no "free" days with cash like there are with purchases.
It's still a good way to go though.
Pay it off as soon as you get back. If you have on-line banking then do a transfer from your bank account straight away.
You won't be able to use the Halifax interface for paying if no statement has been generated as there will be no balance, but if you wait you'll incurr more interest.
