Tesco Online Groceries - £15 for the missing Turkey!

Tesco (bless 'em), appear to have been very honourable and generous with us this year regarding our Christmas online grocery order. :A
It was delivered yesterday - to my mum, and she told us that they had substituted the turkey breast joint we ordered for an alternative one. Oh well we thought.
Since then, I have received an e-mail from them offering £15 by way of an apology that they couldn't deliver the bird that we ordered. That is despite the fact that we only ordered a 'Tesco Turkey Breast Joint & Stuffing 1kg' costing £4. :j
I'm posting here because I thought that someone with a Christmas delivery planned for the next few days might be able to 'leverage' this fact by adding at least a small Turkey item such as that - even if they weren't planning to - with the possibility of it not being in stock and thereby triggering the apology payment.
Happy Holidays!

This too, shall pass.

I know Tesco online are excellent at refunds etc. I ring practically every week as they often mess up in one way or another(usually all the meat has to be eaten within 1 day as all have 1 day eat by date).
Im most impressed by there no nonsence refunds. Excellent!0 -
They did this for me last year, even though the turkey they 'substituted' appeared to be the one I ordered anyway, super!2 angels in heaven :A0

A couple of years ago they failed to deliver my turkey at all despite me preordering it, but after having a panic stricken me on the phone they actually refunded the cost of my entire shop, which webnt a good way to appeasing me!0

Hey can you complain cos of the short use by dates on their home delivery stuff? I often grumble about it but as I dont drive and they are my nearest large supermarket (13 miles away) its the best option for me as I have 2 kids under 2 and a husband that works away about 80-90% of year. Will have to try next time as I hate it when I buy several fresh items and then find out that I have to consume it all in 24-48 hours! I throw out so much. Wouldnt mind if it stated it had a short shelf life!0

Yes, i always do & get it refunded most weeks as i have even written on the notes to get a long use by dates but they often ignore it and i have 2 days to eat about 4 lots of meat!
Also those rachels?? yoghurts on internet advertise as 60p off but they never take it off on the bill so they get refunded or the difference nearly each week(they are very yummy!)0 -
I note that this posting has been moved from 'grabbit while you can' to this '5 star service' area.
As I said in my post - I put this in the 'grabbit' area because someone might want to update their order over the next 1 to 4 days.
Not wanting to get political - but how do I find out who moved the thread - and why? Surely it's polite to post when moving a thread - even if it's an automatic one? This too, shall pass.0 -
All slots are booked up in the next 4 days im afraid(well they are in my area!)
Maybe repost it IN one of the Tesco threads(either misprices or misprice discussion). Nice thought though.0 -
When Tescos came on 21st, My home delivery guy told me that he had to go on a 50 mile round trip for 2 turkeys the previous day because if a turkey had to be substituted the week before Xmas they would have to pay £45 compensation!!0
