What to do with a Belfast Sink...?

Spotted someone was throwing out an old Belfast Sink last week, so I rescued it from the skip (with the owners permission).

i'm not sure what to do with it now - shove some plants in it or turn it into a water feature...

Any other ideas?

Take it back and place it in the skip from where you took it from.

Aww! Don't throw it away again. I had a Belfast sink full of plants in the garden for years and it looked great. I covered it in hypertufa (Google for recipes) to make it look like a stone trough.

The only reason I don't still have it, is that it was incredibly heavy ... so left it behind when I moved.

I did see once in a magazine article with a couple of idea, one that someone incorporated it in there bbq area as an outdoor sink to wash hands and vegetable etc, the waste water was collected in a water barrel and used to water the garden. Others were herb container, to keep goldfish in and water feature.

Can't you read? OP said "with owners permission"

Drill some holes in it & wait till later on in the year & plant some Daffs in it.

We have 2 - sadly they belong to the sheep & its their drinkin water!

I like the idea of the gold fish though! Only problem is there are a hundred cats around here, including teo living next door.

I could fill it with Kitty Kat and asprin...
  • I just literally finished creating an outdoor sink area from brick, and used 1 of 2 belfast sinks left behind by the previous owners.

Along with a now tiled worktop next to it , I have the ideal cleaning up area for things like paintbrushes etc.. plus I can use it to cook using either gas or induction stove

    Don't throw it away!
