How to tell how many memory modules I have?

How do I work out how many memory modules my laptop has - without opening it and looking!? It either has 2x256 or 1x512.

i have used their system scanner before and it has proved to be accurate. It correctly identified both my laptop and fitted memory - then reccomending poss upgrades.
I don't think that they are the cheapest however the sevice was good.

Why not just open it up and have a look so you can be absolutely certain.

My Dell laptop has a cover secured by one captive screw and it only takes a few seconds to open it up.

Just shut it down, switch it off, leave it for a few seconds so that the disks are parked, remove the power cable, turn it upside down on your lap and don’t touch any of the metal parts or circuit boards. Use an insulated or plastic covered non magnetic screwdriver.

Remove the battery and wear an earthing strip if you want to be ultra cautious.
