Windows Movie Maker & AVI Files

I am trying to put a few movie clips together using windows movie maker and it tells me it dosen't recognise the AVI file format. How do i change the format so I can stitch al my clips together?

AVC Free should do it

Check the frame rate is set to 25 and PAL etc, there is also an option to merge the files if you click select, select all, merge
You can use this if you like to make a DVD Disc
