Item Not Received - Help Please

Hi
I won an auction several weeks ago and paid immediately by Paypal but unfortunately the payment did not go through (unclaimed) as the seller had the incorrect address on Paypal.
I cancelled the payment and did try to send a payment via Paypal for an Ebay sale but that didn't work.
The seller therefore sent me an invoice which I paid via Paypal.
There's been no word since from the seller, I've contacted them again this evening but am yet to get a reply. When I click through Ebay to resolve the problem of "item not received" I get this message:
We're sorry there's a problem with this purchase.Unfortunately, PayPal reports that we can't open a case for this item. You can try to work out this problem by contacting the seller.
If the seller does not get in touch what are my options or is that £5 down the swanee.
Thanks
Ms Choc x

If you paid through paypal for goods, then go through a paypal dispute. The seller may not have linked the invoice up to an ebay sale.

I'm not sure if the above link will tell you how to do it, if not the info will be on there.0 -
Thanks, I've had a look but it gives me the option of opening a dispute for Ebay items and non-Ebay items - because it appears the seller sent me an invoice through Paypal do I open a "non-Ebay" dispute?
I don't want to open the wrong kind of dispute only to be told that because I chose the wrong option my claim can't proceed.

What did it say on the invoice? did she link it to the ebay number? If not you may need to wait for soolin to advise you tomorrow as I'm not sure.0

Hi, thanks for the reply. She just put a brief description of the item on the invoice, no ebay number was shown.
ETA: I've just looked at the invoice to double check above re no item number (I was correct, one wasn't given on the invoice) but when I scroll to the bottom of the invoice it gives me the option of opening a dispute there, I'm guessing that's what I should do but would be grateful for Soolin's advice, thanks xThrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End

Soolin, that's great, many thanks.
I have done that on Paypal but now get this message and not sure what I need to do next:
You successfully filed a dispute
You now have 20 days to solve the problem directly with the seller.
In the Resolution Centre you can contact the seller.
There you can also escalate the dispute to a claim in case it is not possible to reach a solution with the seller.
ETA: I think I've worked it out, when I click Resolution Centre it states that I have until 19 July to escalate this dispute to a claim but how long do people generally give the seller to respond?Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End

I'd suggest 48 hours, no more and then escalate.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
