any rewards for taking out a credit card?

Hi everyone im just wondering if anyone can help me. I am self employed and have been told by a mortgage advisor that to help my application when getting a mortgage Some credit history would be good... well ive not got a credit history as i don't believe in taking out loans etc. unless you really need to.
I've decided to take out a credit card out and make small purchases and then pay off in full straight away.
Im just wondering if their are any well know companies which give out vouchers etc for taking one out with them as i believe their were a few knocking about last year.

Try your own bank. You won't get a rewards cards in all probability but they're your best bet to get started.0

Getting a 'cashback' card is your best bet if you're paying it off every month. Gives you a % cashback on your purchases, They're usually only 1% or less but I've got over £1000 back using these over the years.
Have a similar problem with my wife whose never had a credit card or loan. Hasn't been able to get a credit card of her own, just has to have a card on my account. Never paid any interest as we pay it off every month. The only things she's had is our mortgage which we paid off early. Strange how credit card companies don't like people that are 'squeeky clean'; possibly because they can't make much money out of them or they don't like blank histories.0 -
It's the blank histories which is the problem. They have no idea whether that person can handle credit.0
