How many cards for holiday in Guyana and New York

Hello, we're going to Guyana and then New York in August. Originally, I planned to get a FairFX $ card and preload it with most of our money, buying some US$ prior to leaving the UK. Having searched this forum I am now wondering if I should also get a Halifax Clarity card? Also - probably a stupid question - would it be more sensible for me to split the money anyway and put half on a card/cards for my partner? Many thanks, Michele

Don't bother with a US$ card. Halifax Clarity is good if you have access to the Internet in order to clear the balance asap.

Thanks stilltheone - do you mean we should clear the balance as we go along? It may not be possible in Guyana and not sure we'd want to in NY as I imagine we'll be charging around being tourists. We're only going to be away for 17 days.

Yes, though even if you cannot the costs won't be high, dependant on the interest rate you get with the Clarity card.

Best option is an account with Metro Bank. Failing that a Gold Lite account with N&P or an account with Cumberland BS.

Otherwise, the aforementioned cards.

OK - but (and apologies if this really is thick) why would I want an account with Metro Bank? Can't I just get a Halifax Clarity by going into the Halifax?
