Hi,
I have found the laptop I want and I have the choice between the following deals (it's a Toshiba i3 memory 4GB Hard Drive 500GB)
1) £265 refurbished with 3 months warranty
2) £320 refurbished with 12 months warranty
3) £431 new with 12 months warranty
Would I be an idiot to go for the cheapest with only 3 months warranty??
Ideally I want to spend as little as poss because i'm tight - I can't decide whether to risk it.
thoughts please xx

If you posted some links it might help, but I'm guessing one of them is from either Ebuyer's ebay outlet for Curry's? Three months of warranty is pretty poor on a laptop, as they have a relatively high risk of breaking (say compared to a TV).
You might enquire if it's possible to get extended warranty on any of them.
Look on the Sub-£350 powerful laptops thread, particularly at GrumpyCrabs postings.0 -
I have looked on their and none of those laptops appeal to me - I know I want this specific laptop and the above is the three best deals I have found.
I just wondered what people thought about price vs warranty length vs refurb/new.
Thank You x0 -
If money is an issue, I would suggest going for the refurb 12 month. It would depend on how secure the warranty was, for instance if it was provided personally from a seller or a well known company.
As is always the case, although laptops are cheap, they're design makes them a higher risk of failure and replacement parts are far more expensive. These don't apply to you if you have a solid 12 month warranty though.
Just take precautions, such as ensuring air can get to the air-intake grill. This is normally positioned at the bottom, so if you were to place it on a bed or soft material, the fan speed will rise as the air that should get to it, can not. This leads to an internal component failure and expensive repair - this may void any warranty.
Sorry to go all technical, but I experience these problems more than you can imagine! I appreciate a standard computer (a tower or desktop) is not as compact or convenient as a laptop, but repair prices are lower and easier by a layman.
Good luck!If someone is worth thanking - click on the 'Thanks' button on their response. It's just a nice thing to do :-)
Started debt at 17, stopped by 25 :-D ...I'm in debt again because of property :-/0 -
Well £430 sounds expensive for an i3 in general, unless the one you're after has other features to amp up the price such as a particularly good graphics card.0

This is option 2 - it's 25% off when you go through checkout and then another 5% Quidco cashback making it £3200
