Am I able to apply for a credit card yet

Hi,
I'm a recent Uni graduate and have signed a contract with a company for starting work mid-august with a salary of £30k+.
I've used the Barclaycard pre-application checker with my salary and it says I've got an 80-90% acceptance chance, though my question is am I allowed to state this as my salary as I haven't commenced employment just yet, even though I have the contract?
I phoned up their applications line but the guy on the phone didn't seem to understand what I was asking - put me on hold for 3 minutes and then hung up on me!
Cheers
EDIT: I should also note that I currently have a Natwest student credit card which I'm going to cancel, plus the student/graduate overdraft, and have a pretty good credit rating as I've been paying many bills and had the credit card for almost 3 years with no defaults.

I'd suggest just waiting a bit, make the application when you've actually been paid. When they do the full check they'll get to see previous current account balances etc, so I'd imagine you'd be declined and that'd ruin your chances with them for the next 6 months so. I'm thinking the pre-application check was done against the "projected" wage you put in?0

Ahh okay, I wasn't sure what type of checks they make. I'll try to get Natwest to increase my credit limit instead for the time being and see what happens then.0

Yep in the actual application you'll have to put in your real current wage and then it'll reject you and enter a search.
I'd wait."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0
