Bank Credit from Suspense Account

Hi, I have just been checking my bank statement and I have a 'bank credit' from 'suspense account'. I'm not sure what this is. Can anybody shed any light on this for me please?

A suspense account is a double entry accounting ledger used to assist balancing the books while looking for errors or missing money, etc
In your case, it happens when you pay a cheque in with missing details, bank credit from somewhere else etc.
You will have to contact your bank for the actual narrative.

It sounds as though a credit to your account went astray temporarily, has now been found and credited to your account. Think of it as a pigeon hole to put money that doesn't have an obvious destination.

Thanks for the replies. I am going to ring the bank in the morning to find out where it's from. Hopefully it's mine to keep, if not I'd rather know sooner rather than later.

May also have been a refund onto an old (cancelled) card or onto a card for an account that you have closed.
