the company's employees entered the OP's property - FACT!!
OP is enitled to confirmation of their P.L.Insurance policy (EVEN BEFORE THEY ENTER THEIR HOME) - FACT!!
Hintza my friend - if u told me to bog off i would be laughing at you in a loud manner
enter a property to carry out work = produce public liability docs on demand = THE LAW
The problem is the OP didn't check if they had public liability (I would hope they do but who knows)
You wouldn't be laughing at me in a loud manner because negligence has not been proven and even with the best will in the world even if negligence was proven and the fitter isn't covered, you will have a fight to get any money from him and you still might not get any at all.
Which ever way it goes it is going to be hassle for the OP and they should speak to their insurer (as many have stated on here), for goodness sake that is why you pay the premiums so those that are knowledgebale can do their stuff.0 -
The MD of the fitting company though has just lost perhaps dozens of potential future customers (the OP, all her family, and all her friends, plus the school-gate mums and the queue at the bus-stop) and all for the sake of the couple of hundred pounds of trade prices that putting it right would have cost him.
That's not sound business sense, in my book.0 -
