Is a vehicle still insured when the policy holder dies?

The reason I ask the above question is that as I understand it, when you are fully comp insurance you are allowed to drive any vehicle but only if that vehicle is insured. Now as I used to drive my father-in-law about in his car, albeit third party f&f , I was insured, whereas now I have been asked to temporarily move the car by his wife (who doesn't drive by the way) while she sorts things out . So does the insurance become invalid when the policy holder dies or is the car still insured until the insurance expiry date?
Thanks in anticipation.

I would say that the problem is not whether the other car is covered in itself.
The problem is whether you have the permission of the owner of the other vehicle to drive the car, which is a requirement in order for your "driving other cars" benefit to apply. The owner is technically the estate of the deceased so as things stand you do not necessarily have permission to drive unless the executor has given you permission.0 -
Not all fully comp policies include DOC as standard... some exclude it0

I'm sure if you contacted either insurance company you could get interim cover to allow you to drive the vehicle for the purposes of moving it, they may make a small charge but likely as much would do it under your existing cover for a one off instance.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0

You can certainly bet they'll charge an 'admin fee' for dying.0

Depends on your policy. Apparently some require the vehicle to have existing insurance, I've never had one that does.
However the drive any vehicle is 3rd party only & if it isn't insured in its own right then if you get out of the car its instantly uninsured which, if its on the road, is naughty plus it will flag up as uninsured on any ANPR systems0
