Can i transfer a balance from a Next Directory card??

Hi.....ive just opened a barclaycard 'freedom' credit card with 0% interest over 20 months in order to transfer some store card balances over. The only trouble is is that after ringing Next for a new card (as my expiry date is now invalid), they are telling me that i can't transfer this balance as it isn't a store card as such, but a 'mail order' card. I find this really strange and was wondering if anyone can shine any light on this? Any help would be fab! Thanks!!:)

yes you would need a 0% purchases offer as catalogues aren't credit cards but they do allow credit card payments to pay off their balances_________________________________________
