Conned out of my money

Hey all I recently brought something online which cost £150. I paid through a VISA debit card, but I recently found out that the site is a fake and doesn't send out goods or reply to emails. I'm just wondering what can I do to get my money back? I've heard of something called VISA chargeback? How easy is this to do. I have all the documents to prove it, etc.

Thanks

Ryan

    Very easy to do.

Read MSE's Section 75 Refunds article.

There is a bit at the bottom about debit cards chargeback schemes.

Its as easy as phoning the card company and filling a form in :)

Then warning others to beware of them so their not the next victim :)

Thanks a lot for that. I see im covered for 120 days. I shall give them another week and then I shall proceed by talking to my bank.

the company is called gamesbasement dot com

They soon take your money, promise everything will be posted, yet nothing gets delivered. So please don't use this company

hi ryan, just looked at their website, usually there are tell tale signs of a dodgy one, but this one certainly looks the part, its easy to see how you were fooled. a quick google check also shows other problems.
i suggest play.com or amazon in future, usually just as cheap.

gamesbasement have been the subject of a few threads on here, never dealt with them myself but I'd do a forum search for them to get an idea of other people's problems with them. Hope you get your money back smoothly x

Thanks for all the replies and help. I would say i'm glad im not the only one, but no i don't. I wouldn't wish this on anybody. I kinda wished I researched the company first!!

Funny thing is I checked my email today and received an email from them stating that the "finance team" will give me a refund. I'm not waiting around long for one. If I don;t get it in a week i'm contacting my Debit Card/ Bank right away.

How are these guys even allowed to still be trading? It looks like they have been around for a couple of years now, yet they are still selling!

Ok so something has happened. I decided to phone the bank just and they said they will give me a temp payment in my account... But when I got off the phone i logged into my account and found out that I had been refunded from the company.

    What happens now? Help advised

    Thanks

I ended up with a double refund after getting my card company to retrieve my payment from Brew-It-Yourself when they consistently failed to deliver my goods or respond to my requests for my money back.

After my card company had reversed the transaction and retrieved my money this dozy company FINALLY gave me a refund back to my card as well. So I'd got it twice (though it had taken months).

Anyway, I wrote and emailed the company, told them my card company had already been obliged to retrieve my money on my behalf. Said they should contact me to discuss a solution (I never intended to try to keep both lots of money) and that I would not be contacting them again in relation to this matter.

In fact they didn't bother to contact me, all they did was put through the transaction again, which meant they got back one of the refunds. Sorted (finally), though I was a tiny bit annoyed that they didn't advise me they were going to help themselves to the overpayment.

If I were you, I wouldn't involve your card company again at this point, or you might find they give the refund back at the same time as the company take it back - leaving you back at square one!
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.
