There is something weird going on at the Betts website. All the rings I am choosing seem to be less than £20.
http://www.bettsmetalsales.com/catalogue/wedding_ring_d_shape_range
I selected the bottom ring, 18carat white, 8mm, size q, gold polished style - price £13.57... I mean thats a great price, but what am I doing wrong! (Not looking for this ring, just trying to see what is wrong with the site!)
This ring was £3 when I've just looked:T...this exact specification :rotfl:Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1216 -

sorry to pop in but i was just wondering whether titanium is far off (look wise) to white gold. My H2B is a joiner and doesnt wear rings because they usually snap or getbent very easily. Is titanium stronger than gold?
thanks0 -
Do you not have a local jewellery quarter,i popped in today to find out prices in one jewellers they told me £300 each ring  so i went to the other jewellers who said we have second hand ones or new ones,i had a look at the second hand ones which looked no different to new £88 for OH's and i wanted a wishbone diamond set £185 second hand aswell,so if i didnt have diamond set we could get both rings for £200,the new rings i then looked at which werent as wide for OH's and it was more expensive0

Yes, titanium's quite different in appearance to white gold. Whereas white gold is quite a shiny silver, titanium is more of a (with fear of sounding dumb) "titanium grey". I believe you can have it coloured in different shades, though, may be worth looking at.
I've worn a titanium ring for years that my OH gave me, but it doesn't look particularly "wedding ring" to me, as it's a different colour. When I get married I'm upgrading it to a palladium ring.
Titaniu, is technically harder than gold, but it's a double edged sword - although it's harder to damage, it's much harder to get repaired once it happens - and my ring does have a fair few scuffs and marks on it, just through day to day use, so it's not impervious to damage...0 -
Hi! Can anyone explain why the rings at betts metal sales are so cheap? I don't understand how a platinum ring is only £5.60??0

Manufacturing retailers who are online can also cut out the higher costs of making things somewhere else so this all adds up to cheaper prices.
some retailers will also buy up bankrupt stock, although I'm not suggesting thats what Betts metals do...but again buying cheap will mean that they can sell cheaper too.frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

Think I'm missing something on that site - I put in my ring (5mm flat court, medium weight, palladium, size S) and it came out at £5 cheaper than I got it for on the high street - and a bunch more than I could have paid on, say, ebay for the same thing.
Are their certain designs that are on there for silly prices? I'm amazed if you can get anything in platinum for £5.60 - the cheapest I've seen anywhere is like £100 and that's for a *small* ring...
edit to add: actually, I've found some...it's blatantly just a bug on the site...If you look at the 3mm extra light D shape (the top one in the link above), in size Q1/2 it's £5.60, in size R, it's £346, much more like it...0 -

Without sounding blunt its probably the things they want to get rid of...or the loss leaders to tempt you in..
Never used them myself but have been told by others they are reasonable quality for the price...so happy customer!...who then goes and tells his friends...generating publicity and hopefully more customers...frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
