If you want to pm me your postcode and house number, I'll drop the pic link for you?
No immersion tank = no immersion diverter.
If someone throws in an iBoost or similar, they haven't looked/listened properly and are inflating thr price as you have no way of using it effectively.
Shouldn't affect your current tariff, in fact if you can make more use of the generation then it could help lower the bills even more?
Do you put off doing laundry until the lower tariff kicks in?
Way cheaper than a diverter, put washing machine/dishwasher/tumbledryer on timers to come on during the day, even if you're out?
4kWp, SSE, SolarEdge P300 optimisers & SE3500 Inverter, in occasionally sunny Corby, Northants.
Now with added Sunsynk 5kw hybrid ecco inverter & 15kWh Fogstar batteries. Oh Octopus Energy too.

    PM sent.

Always try and do as much of our laundry/tumble drying etc when on cheap rate. Charge everyting at work (even razor...) whenever possible. Currently using about 35% on E7

    Hi All,

This thread has really got me thinking about solar, my roof is south-ish facing, I'll get the exact orientation details, but I want to get some companies out to give me a quote, does anyone know of any reputable firms in the Coventry/North Warks area?

    Thanks

You could ask SterlingTimes who did his, he's not far from that part of the world?

Most Solar installers will travel, so it's a case of finding one that you feel offers the better deal and you feel comfortable with them?

I will say don't get too hung up on the tech, unless you have specific issues like shading, and just ask here on the forum if you're unsure about anything - we have no vested interest, apart from making sure you get the deal that suits you without you being fleeced - unless you want to be!!

    Welcome to the club!

If you follow my suggestion HERE, then start a new thread for your own project with the suggested detail, it's a lot easier to find than trawling through some of these long threads!

    Good Luck!

Hiya. If you haven't already, then worth reading the PV FAQs for a crash course in all the basics. Try sections 1 & 2, and possibly 5 & 13 for more detail as you move forward.

For general PV advice please see the PV FAQ thread on the Green & Ethical Board.

I used Eco2solar in Kidderminster for both my systems and would use them again.

Just wondered if i could do anything more to maximise my generation and export less?

We have an iBoost and after the typical family daily hot water needs it puts up to 6-7.5kW back into the tank.

Our electricity needs are around 5-7kWh per day. I think roughly half is used during the day under solar.

We have really adapted and most of our appliances and electrical needs happen during daylight hours now.

Very roughly, we are generating 14-16kWh average every day at the moment.
We can use 10kWh of this generation in solar water + daily electricity use.
We are exporting 4 - 6kWh, much more on some days.

Just wondered if there was anything else we could do to utilise this export better?

A few things come to mind:
    - make sure that you use appliances serially
    - put rechargeable bits and bobs on a daytime-only timer
    - buy a large flask and store pre-boiled water

All these are fiddling around the edges really. If you want a make a difference...

    - buy an electric car and charge it during the day

Also, make sure that you subscribe to renewable-only energy supplies.

Thanks Orrey, i do have an electric company car coming shortly which i will be able to charge during the day as i work from home a lot.

I suspect this will capture most of what would normally be exported, i suspect it will also drop our hot water generation too so i will have to see what happens there.
