I'm assuming providing a recommendation inc. link is ok.

We're in Loughborough and just had ours done by Ace Solar who are in your area: http://www.acesolar.co.uk/

Can't fault them really. They were cost competitive but most of all it was the confidence they gave you that you'd get a good service.

Just starting to investigate Solar panels in Nottinghamshire.

Anyone recommend any companies to me in east Notts area?

Would welcome any help or advice...
Get plenty of quotes, then post the quotes on here, myself and plenty of the others will run an eye over them to see that you're not getting stiffed.
In the meantime, do you know which way your roof points? Pitch? Size?(any houses similar to yours around with panels for comparison?) Do you have an immersion tank?

Simplest way that I've found, that makes things so much easier when you can actually see what someone is trying to describe!

Take a screenshot of your house on googlemaps, ie, browse to maps.google.uk, enter your postcode, zoom in as close as (by doing this you can remove streetnames etc.) and take a screenshot.

If you have an iphone (never mind!!), then Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on the top or side of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, then immediately press and release the Home button. You can find the screenshot in your Photos app.

If you've a proper phone on android, then it's simply press and hold your smartphone's power and volume down button at the same time for 1- to 2 seconds, should work for most recent versions (last 2/3 years) -

If you want, you can then crop it even more to remove any incriminating evidence, upload to a photohost (I kind of like postimage.org) and copy the link provided, like so....

Why do this? Google defaults to north being up so we can see what your azimuth is (important for getting the numbers right), and we can also see if splitting the roof might be an option, as well possibly highlight shading issues like my chimney!

But Tunnel is spot on the money, get lots of quotes, don't get too hung up about different brands, and if you're not sure, just ask!!
4kWp, SSE, SolarEdge P300 optimisers & SE3500 Inverter, in occasionally sunny Corby, Northants.
Now with added Sunsynk 5kw hybrid ecco inverter & 15kWh Fogstar batteries. Oh Octopus Energy too.

I had the same when my immersun was installed and called the installer back - there was a loose connection somewhere causing the buzzing which was fixed and the problem never returned. I'm sorry I can't recall what the exact problem was.

Thanks ChopperST, i didn't have much time to check when i got home tonight but i had no buzzing at all whilst generating 1.7kW. Upon checking the iBoost it was finished for the day so was off.

I will have to recheck it tomorrow, so in a way i'm hoping it is just the natural behaviour of the iBoost and not a loose connection humming.

P.S. damm bird **** on the panels, twice.

Failed to do screenshot - got to google maps, but couldn't create a link.

Anyway, I am able to state that it is South East facing with the roof facing this direction being on a line around 30 degrees off North. Perhaps it is easier to say it is slightly further slanted (off due north) than the italic symbol above.

I am in the process of contacting 3 companies for quotesand will update as I get info.

Thanks again for all your assistance folks - really appreciated.

    Forgot to mention other points.

Roof is pitched (about 35-40 degrees) and I understand it is in the region of 25-28 square meters. No other houses in my street have panels as yet.

I don't have an immersion tank.

Currently on Economy 7 - would this change or be affected?

    Thanks again
