Are storage heaters a problem for rental

I have a house rented out (mid-terrace) with all new storage heaters in it and found that it made no difference to rent-ability at all, in fact nobody even mentioned it! From the LL's point of view having an all electric property saves the annual issue with gas certs. too.If you feel my comments are helpful then I'd love it if you 'Thanked' me!0

I also have found the same, the tenants only have the one energy bill to deal with,on a well insulated mid terrace its a winner.0 -
We have storage heaters and are in an end of terrace. The house is super warm with them and we only actually have three heaters, two downstairs and one upstairs. We think it is so warm because it is so well insulated. Therefore our electric bills have never been horrendous due to heating costs. The room without storage heating joins onto next door and it is never cold. Even the room that used to be colder in our house is not any longer as we upgraded just the one heater downstairs and now everywhere keeps warmBSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0

I think storage heaters are like marmite you either love them or hate them.
I wouldn't swap mine for gas. the only downside is not being thermostatically controlled but other than that no problemLost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

As a tenant storage heaters are not on my list of things to concern me.It's someone else's fault.0

No gas means no instant hot water (if combi boiler). Having to wait for a tank to warm (sometimes hours if all the hot waters is used) before I get any hot water for washing up or a bath is an even bigger pain than storage heaters.0

My tank hold enough hot water to fill the bath so never have to wait. Alway enough left to do dishes so no problem there.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

I would never rent a place with storage heaters, even if the rent is cheaper - they cost too much to run.
I think that as a landlord you need to invest in your flat to be energy efficient - if you have tenants who aren't savvy or aware of the costs they may run up a huge bill they can't pay, and then they won't have money to continue the tenancy.0 -

We don't have a hot water tank, we have a gas water heater which gives us hot water on demand. I love itBSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0 -
I lived in an upstairs flat with storage heaters through a freezing winter.
Never again.
Anywhere I saw storage heaters would be instantly struck off my list as I often found myself paying for too much heat.
Give me central heating every time.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0
