China Counterfeit Goods

Hello,
I bought an item from a manufacturer in China as a sample of which cost me £104.00. Upon receiving the sample (electronic item) it turned out to be a cheap copy. I payed via Paypal for this item. I have been in contact with them and they have even admitted to me it is a fake that is exactly the same as the original! I have told them I want a refund for the item and they have agreed to do a Paypal refund once they get it back "in original condition" but I will have to pay the postage costs.
I will have to send it back via some form of recorded service and dont mind paying the postage costs.
What I am concerned about is should I do a transaction dispute now with Paypal before I post it back or should I post it back and hopefully get a refund?..if they mess me about im not sure how I would stand if I dont have the item anymore?
Thanks

How much does the genuine article of whatever it is you bought sell for ? Did you know you were dealing with a Chinese company before you paid the money ?
I would consider asking this on the ebay board, there's lots of people knowledgeable about paypal over on there.0 -
I would open up a dispute with Paypal immediately. You did not receive the goods you paid for, let Paypal resolve the issue (they tend to come down on the side of the buyer anyway).0
