Hi Mum2one. That is a "how long is a bit of string" question (as many are with IVA's!). It all depends on your IP, his team and how quickly you can get together the reams of paperwork needed. I was lucky in that I had most of the paperwork needed (recent statements, utility bills etc) all to hand and didn't need to faff around getting mortgage statements. From my initial phone call to the creditors meeting was 6 weeks. The norm is usually around 8 weeks id straightforward, self employed or complicated cases can add a few weeks to that.

Again, with careful timing, I was in the IVA before the creditors call centres had time to realise and react, so only have a few phone calls to deal with. Over the years I had managed things so that most of my payments went out together and had kept mostly up to date, so the creditors didn't notice the missing payment until it was too late!

Ours took from 8th May till 28th June from the date of initial inquiry to Creditors meeting. We went with Debt free direct after talking to several companies. I went through IVA.com. It came down to 2 debt free direct and Keith White from Vincent Bond but after he couldnt even get my name correct after taking all my details and talking to me at length on the phone I felt it didnt bode well.
