Hello
I am in the forces and spend alot of time away from my flat - and it usually sits empty whilst i am.
Does anyone know of a way to advertise your flat for short term rent. i.e a week here and there ect or for one of night - i.e people visiting area or on holiday.
I live quite close to london, so maybe olympics etc?
is this wise? anyone else done this?
any advice appreciated

You could ask advice from holiday let rental agencies in your area, but there are things to consider:
Have you a mortgage? - this may prohibit letting of any sort.
Your house insurance would need to be changed, otherwise it would be void for lets.
If you have furnishings and personal effects in thr property, you risk loss and damage.
If you were letting on a purely holiday basis, I am fairly sure there are different regulations to letting for residential use.
You also need to declare any rental income for tax.
If you are out of the country, how would you vet tenants, arrange repairs/cleaning etc.
It may be more trouble than its worth in my opinion.0 -
Thanks for that - definitly more things to consider0
