Yes you are missing something. Wonga doesn't do direct debits, they prefer to use RCA (recurring card authorisation), i.e. you give them your debit card details. Unlike a DD you cannot stop an RCA (short of closing the bank account down).0

Sorry, I wasn't aware of that. You say they prefer to use a RCA so there must be anpther way like DD. I'm sorry, but I wouldn't give any company and RCA. You just can't stop them. If it was only a £50 loan, then wouldn't it have been cheaper to do a cash advance on the card, assuming of course that it wasn't maxed out.0

Unfortunately the people who use payday loans tend to have no further access to funds on their card.0
