Packard Bell recon laptops at Dixons (merged)

Packard Bell is now just a badge like MG or Ferguson
It was an American Radio manufacturer in the last century that went into computers in the 80's, expanded, went cheap, selling to dept stores, got into trouble, bought Zenith, merged with NEC, went bust late 90's. Resurected by French wanting own computer manufacturer/brand, concentrated on Europe. DSG was main UK importer.
Has never taken off, a bit like Amstrad for quality, but says it is the 3rd largest Euro pc outfit.
Was taken over in September 2006 by Amstrad type Chinese guy that started E Machines which he had sold to Gateway and so had some spare cash.

Can I interest you in an IBM laptop? :rolleyes:I'm NOT political so DON'T correct me!0 -

Yeah I'm in the same boat in that respect
Bought an Inspiron 1300 a few months back and it's simply excellent. Still wouldn't touch their desktops with a bargepole mind (Mesh Computers/Self build, nothing else)

Depends on the model. I'm into tiny ones, an my Fujitsu P series is getting a little tired...Nix wrote:Can I interest you in an IBM laptop? :rolleyes:0 -
Hi folks - I've been looking for a good value laptop and have took the plunge on this one today.
the unit is reconditioned but comes with a 12 months guarantee and under £300 delivered price seems too good to let go so i ordered one.
maybe this would be useful to someone else too.

I think it's important to speak up when things seem ufairly biased & I've seen some of the posts here rubbishing Packard Bell computers. I have to say that my first 2 computers were Packard Bell, both gave me years of service & both are still going strong, being donated to computer newbies when I replaced them. I never had to use their customer service, so can't comment on that, but they do have a very helpful forum where other PB users are only too happy to offer help & advice on any queries.
Ok, so the computer I now have is Hewlett Packard, but that's because I got a great deal when buying from them when they were selling via Ebay.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -

Best regards,
Gary.
I ordered one of these, and it arrived today
Only problem is they sent me a bl**dy desktop instead. So I have to wait for my return labels, send it back to them, wait for it to be processed, wait for the MV35-202D to come back in stock, then wait another 5 bl**dy days for delivery. Nice work Dixons. If I am extremely lucky I "might" get the laptop I ordered 16 days after I ordered it....
Great deal Laptop - If you can get it0 -
