Dixons are doing Recon Packard Bell laptops at £349.99. With the 10% discount code plus another £10 discount code it's £304, with a little more back with Quidco. A few weeks ago they even put a special code up on google ads when you searched for R1938 (the model number) and it took it to £296, but that code has gone
Wish I snapped one up then...
Pros
A brand name laptop, not the rubbish advent make
Huge ram and HD - 1gb - 80gb HD
Wireless, 15.4 screen etc etc
Cons
It's a recon, but should be ok and it's free to return if you don't like...

None of the codes I have found seem to be working, can you point me in the ones you've used please?
This looks perfect for me, been looking for a good deal, only going to be using it for some college work and surfing.Sigless0 -

Thanks for the reply. I tried the ones from hotdeals to no avail. I found the £10 off one but not the 10%Sigless0

I don't want to put this offer down but to say that Packard Bell is a top brand is laughable. The desktop PBs I've experienced have been very poor for both performance and reliability.
Edit: Maybe Packard Bell is being mixed up with Hewlett Packard, which really is a good brand?0 -

Yeh, Packard Bell are generally pretty poor quality.0 -
ok, i havent owned a packard bell, just see loads of advertising. i do know advent have a very poor reputation, worse than pb, so if thinking about the much lower spec advent laptop for £299 this should be considered?0

i had one of these from currys for sub £300 a few weeks ago - took it back for refund as it didn't do it for me.
Build quality seemed OK but the styling is a little iffy once you open the laptop up.
Screen is pretty good but a fair amount of brightness shows through from the bottom on darker screens (DVD viewing etc.)
Found the touchpad a little off compared to other laptops - I bit rubbery on the finger tip.
What really put me off was the battery life 90-100 mins.
Otherwise a good buy if you don't have a laptop already or a decent home pc.
Came brown boxed, some are in as new condition, others (mine included) have a few light scratches to the base plastics etc.0 -
Not top spec by a long way, nor top brand, just a fair price.
