It's very hard out there

Been unemployed for 8 months have had several interviews but still unemployed. I am now concerned as my mortgage insurance claim is ending and no job in sight. I have been doing some voluntary work but not able to go recently as the charity can't pay my expenses anymore. Really stuck now even supermarket jobs have become elusive and DWP have no funding for any training or courses (on income based JSA).

CV is posted online and applied for over 350 jobs.

Anyone got any ideas?

If you aren't getting interviews, then you are applying for the wrong jobs or not completing the application out properly, or changing your CV to suit each time.

What jobs are you applying for?
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

Have you had someone review your CV? Nextstep organisation will do it for you.Why not give them a call and see if there is anything they can suggest.
What industry are you in? type of work?

I do agree however that it is tough - I am struggling for a job and really never thought I would be out of work. It's hard to remain positive and I've had some very low days but I think you have to accept that will happen and just keep going. No other option really and the job could be around the corner.

    Good Luck

It is tough out there, and I've had to swallow my pride big time to get a job.

Do you have anything you do or can do which you can persuade others to pay you for? I'm thinking self employment.

If you can't find a job why not create your own?

i have thought about it(its always on my mind though) but its what kind, i dont have any experience that i can use to go SE. It has been suggested in the past about setting up a pc repair(upgrades that kind of thing) shop with someone else but its whether it would work as theres a local shop in town and pc world just outside of town plus various other ex employees who worked for so and so.

Have a look around for any other people doing the mobile PC repairs and see what the competition is like. Shops are irrelevant a lot of the time as people want their PC to be fixed when they realise it isn't working; they don't want to wait till they can get to the shop at the weekend and then pick it up the weekend after. If you give people the choice of fixing it in their lounge within a couple of hours of them not getting on Facebook, or a two week wait till they can get it to the shop; you'll find most people will want it fixing NOW!
Plus, you can afford to be a lot cheaper than the shops.

theres a few ex employes of various firms round here who have qualifications and job experience whereas i dont have qualifications and only limited experience.

    Something to think about,

Thats rather a gneralisation there tho I see your point. A good few conversations I have had recently have lead me to believe that its not so much what I am doing as what the companies/employers are doing. Some only look at a few applications, some bin them. etc etc... To be fair how do they know they are getting best person for the job when they do this for example.. count off the first so many.. if you say 25 and then look at those .. the 26th person or even the 40th might be perfect for them. When jobsekkers face that kinda situation and many others how are we to do a damn thing as regards gaining work or even interviews? I appreciate companies are busy but in my experience I dealt singlehandedly in one of my roles with a massive external job trawl for the Home Office at the same time as managing to do all the day to day HR stuff(tho only a temp most of the staff there were part time or effectively so:mad:) so I know it can be dealt with. There were thousands of applications and forms to send off etc.
