One other piece of information to consider is this:-

Section 147 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 repealed the section in the 1948 National Assistance Act which allowed local authorities to pursue "liable relatives". So they can't chase after the spouse or any other family member for costs their have incurred in relation to another person.

    Grand mum,

House signed over 6 years ago( WHY? when there were no tax benifits)

    Uncle carer for 3 years

What role were/are the rest of the family like and your parent(grans issue) palying in this care situation.

Anyway if you want the house to pay for improved care you will probably need to get involved with the care and how it is getting paid pointing at a potential deprivation situation to those paying

That's exactly what I mean: my uncle hadn't been dead 24 hours and my gran was in a grotty care home. The 2 sons, 1 in particular had not a lot to do with their father and certainly not with their gran.

You are also a grandchild. You can organise a better home for your gran. You don't have to leave her where she's been dumped!

. . . and inform the new home where her assets have ended up, so the new home can go after them! ;)
