Santander refunding charges for being over overdraft limit

I noticed that my account had gone over its overdraft limit on around the 21st June and when I looked two transactions from a pub had come out of the account which I had made 11 days earlier on the 10th June. I was informed then by the bank that these would incur two charges of £25.00 and an additional £5 a day overdrawn daily charge (I got paid on the 24th June so this came to £15.00).

I have just rang Santander to ask/beg for some understanding about these charges as the pub I had been in had taken so long to claim this money back. Straight away they told me that I would be getting the £65.00 refunded in all probability. Wow, my negotiating skills must be brilliant, I thought. No, what had happened was that Santander have had a problem with their systems which resulted in card payments being made between the 9th and 12th of June being charged 10 or 11 days later. Santander informed me that this wasn't my fault and they have now refunded this money.

If anyone else has gone over their limit, can they check whether delayed payments over this period have caused it. If this is the case, give them a ring and get a refund! :j
