Amazon replacement footwear

I purchased a pair of boots from Amazon at 1/3 the price they are right now as they are not on sale anymore.
Anyway, the size is too big and I want a replacement at the correct size.
The problem seems to be that Amazon only accept refunds. I emailed them and they told me they will accept a refund on the initial order and that I should then re-order the correct size.
The problem with that is I will have to pay 66% more to re-order as the price has gone up. Has anyone managed to persuade Amazon to send a direct replacement of footwear due to incorrect size?
Thanks.

you're options available to you are based on the item, the current stock and current price - the website will only offer you the options you are able to do - remember the retailer is allowed to choose the type or refund/replacement on a product - you can email/call and ask, but its entirely discretionary - in any case, without ringing them there really isn't much more to say about your options.
Personally though, if it doesn't offer me the option i just go for the refund and wait - the price of stuff varies by quite alot, quite quickly on amazon depending on stock and previous sales demand.0
