The roof of our 3 year old shed is leaking and my husband is thinking of trying to repair it himself. Can anybody tell me please if he buys a sheet of roofing felt and nails it over the old felt, will that do the trick? Or is there something else he should be doing?
TIA

when our shed roof leaked my hubby got some large plastic sheeting from work
and some roofing felt and nailed the platic sheet then the new felt over top no leaks since i think wickes sell like a tarpaulin stuff on a roll that would probably do the same trick then use roofing felt.

Hello...The felt is normally held in place at the end by pieces of wood on the apex (pointed walls).remove these...lay the new felt over the old stuff and nail it on.It may also help to buy felt adhesive, which can be painted onto the joins in the felt to make them watertight. Just make sure he overlaps the felt by a good 6".0

Yeh definitely remove the old stuff first. If it's stuck down anywhere then prise it up with a spade. Any damaged or rotten roofboard should be replaced with plywood or OSB board.
Make sure he folds it under all edges and nails in place, don't leave any flapping down at the edges.0
