It is Christmas time again, and inspite of new automated security checks (you know the sort of thing "Enter character 3 of your mother's maiden name") Egg money still does not trust me.
Tried to buy 8.50 of Megatrain ticket this week on the web.
Obviously must be a regularly scammed site, because even the automated system would not chance it.
Phoned the automated number as instructed and it suggested there had been fraudulent activity on the account in USA. (Have been to USA about two years ago?!?)
Needless to say we were phoning the hot line there and then. It seems this must be a clever new ploy because there were no USA transactions on the account, only the "dodgy" 8.50 to Megatrain.
John.
BTW, if you are worried that the strange voice on the other end of the call might not be a real Egg/Citibank agent, ask them to tell you details about a transaction you know you have made, what is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

I found it vaguely amusing that the last automated 'dodgy transaction' call I got from Egg garbled (literally and phonetically) the PayPal payments.
All transactions were legitmate - the trigger transaction I knew about, but I couldn't make head nor tail of what the system was trying to say.
(All the transactions queried were on 2nd card holder's card.)Conjugating the verb 'to be":

It's bizarre. Was this a personal diary stored on a Word document which was accidentally uploaded to the Internet?
It's not the strangest thread I've seen on MSE but it's right up there0 -

Christmas is a magnet for the fraudster.
The World of Warcraft sister fraud thread is still getting regular updates, though the bank figures no longer sweem to be regular news.
