has anyone done any due diligence on the financial state of Evo energy? what will happen to them after December?

i am being asked for 50% upfront deposit by Evoenergy for a PV system to meet the new Dec 12 deadline. I would hate for it to disappear into a black hole.....

I doubt they'll go bust before 12 December. The people who've already ordered will be frantically getting their payments in on time to make sure they get their MCS certificates before the deadline.

I had my panels installed by EvoEnergy on 6th September. I've got a 4kWp system on a roof at 30 degrees pitch facing due south. I have Hyundai panels and a Kaco inverter. So far my best day was 28/9/11 when I generated 19.95kWh, but I'm hoping for better next summer when the hours of daylight are longer. In total, I've generated 642kWh over the 65 days since the system was switched on.

The Evo salesman was excellent - no hard sell (unlike some of the other companies who came to quote) and endless patience at answering my many email queries before I committed. He knew his stuff, too.

I originally ordered Suntech panels (the cheapest of the 5 they quoted for) but they contacted me a few days before installation to say Suntech had let them down with a delivery. They offered me a choice of a later installation date or a free upgrade to Hyundai panels. I went for the upgrade, and am very happy with the result.

The installation team were great - a project manager, two sparkies, two roofers, and two NVQ trainees, all professional, helpful and a pleasure to have around. They let me watch and take pictures for my science classes! (I'm a secondary teacher.)

The head office has had a few hitches with paperwork - I got the wrong circuit diagram (for the Suntech panels instead of the Hyundai ones) to start with, and my payment for referring my neighbour was delayed - but it all got sorted out when I followed it up.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

It has been a PAINFUL experience, having Solar panels installed through Evo Energy. Far from being professional, it was like dealing with amateurs:

    1) I bought my panels outright. My quote included Warranty details and 'FIT payment' promises that were incorrect and 'out of date'.

    2) My allocated 'project coordinator' gave me duff info about a simple question about the origin of my panels (German not Chinese). Also, I really needed to speak with him before the install began and dispite 3 days of trying to get hold of him, he didn't get back to me in time.

    3) The electrician left on the final day of installation without completing and giving me any of the 'hand over pack' (I’d been assured I would get).

    4) The electrician also failed to complete, and leave me, any of the electrical testing and certification, which should've been done on the day.

    3) A number of times, I contacted my 'sales' contacts with my concerns (including Simon Horlock, Head of Residential Sales) but I was just ignored. I had to search out a 'technical dept' to try and get help.

    4) The Solic 200 unit I was sold as part of the installation was faulty and had to be replaced.

    5) It's a month on and I'm still awaiting all the info/warranties etc I should have.

Evo Energy must have got complacent, if indeed they were ever any good.
Do yourself a favour and give someone else your hard earnt money.

Any company that says they need a bigger deposit to secure your kit is struggling financially. The "CEO" even feels the need to come on here. Speaks volumes.

But one thing I dont understand about the solar thing is the return. Says 8% or 11% depending on the assumptions they make up but they never at any point admit that your spent money is completely gone. So it's not a "return" at all. You are earning your money back. You are negative £thousands and gradually gain it back thru fit and saved electricity which, let's face it. Is peanuts.

Doesnt it look like another mis-selling scandal like PPI and all the others?
