Buyer doing payment reversals

Very odd ebay behaviour today.

I had a buyer pay via paypal for a BIN item and then they reversed the payment straight away, and then they go and do it again a couple of minutes later i.e. make a purchase for the same item and reverse it.

Odd thing is Ebay does not indicate that anything was sold or indeed sale cancelled just PayPal does as it provides details of fees reversed also.

Also l wasn't aware that a buyer can reverse their own payment.

As l say very odd, neither buyer or myself are out of pocket etc, its just really odd thing to happen

Are you sure that it is the buyer reversing it and not paypal? That may explain the behaviour.

I found an email today in one of my email address's that I hadnt used for over 3 months with youve got funds someone has deposited 42.30 into my account and its been there since the 28th March. I keep getting conflicting messages of paypal some saying you can withdraw it and the other said they would look into and tell me the result in the next 72 hours that was friday. Ive looked online and seen a few scams relating to this but none where money has been deposited and just left. What should I do ?.

Is the email addresses to you personally or is it dear customer? If the latter it's a scam. Forward to spoof@paypal.com

Its actually addressed to me and I have spoken to paypal and the money is actualy in my account. I did notice that a few days before the money was deposited there was money taken out by a company called nexon america then refunded. As I said I hadly use this email and also never use the paypal account as I have another I use for ebay.

It isn't unusual. I get so many of these I now ignore them. Most are payments by Iphone. The iphone app is flawed and the customers security fails before the Ebay transaction is processed. Paypal take payment and refund before the Ebay transaction is authorised. I used to email the buyers, from the paypal email address and let them know. Some have repaid by manual payment, but now, as I get so many, I just leave it as it causes too much work for me.

Thanks for that. I did email the potential buyer just to make them aware but haven't heard anything as yet.

I find some reply some don't. Send them an eBay message if you want to chase the sale.
