Faulty XBox

Hi there
I bought a new Xbox 360 slim 10/5/11 and today it developed a common fault. Argos's receipt states its not subject to a 30 day money back guarantee. I took it back to Argos and they said I had to phone Microsoft. Microsoft said I had to return to them for repair.
Surely a machine that is only a month and a half old should be replaced if faulty?
I look forward to any advice?

Katie

is the common fault the red ring of death?! I thought this had been resolved in the new console?!?

Unfortunately if it is this microsoft have agreed to repair all systems thus you will have to send to germany to be fixed. My turnaround was 18 days they used to give a freebie for the inconvenience but this doesnt happen that oftne anymore

I looked on here and people have stated that it should be down to the seller (Argos) not the manufacturer (this was an old post) is this still the case

This will soon lead to ring of death, If you go on the microsoft website and open a technical query it will advise what to do, if you do need to send it back (like I had to for my son) then its all free (if you have a suitable box and printer) and you get it back quite quickly.

True for most goods but like i said microsoft have agreed with retailers that they will take the hit as soon as it passes the retailers return policy it becomes the responsibility of microsoft. Argos will not return the item
  • It would be much quicker just to send it off to microsoft rather then go through argos. Mine took about 2 weeks and they sent me a months live when it came back. I know it's a pain since you haven't had it long :(
I try to help as much as I can. But I'm also honest and speak my mind.

yes thats correct but in the time you could end up getting argos to sort it for you you could have sent the console to microsoft and get it back fixed plus a 1 month gold subscription to xbox live

Glad to hear it worked out - when you say new warranty, did you get a clean receipt or is it still the original transaction with a replacement noted against it?

The roiginal warranty will still apply from the original purchase if its the latter, as replacements under original warranty continue to expire at the original end of warranty on the original device.

Eitherway, good news you got it replaced, saved all the hassle...
