Its not all about money......

......but having a bit more certainly helps ;)

I found this site by doing a search on google for someting totally unrelated to moneysaving - cant even remember what for. Then I got hooked!

I work full time, have 2 children. One of my girls is disabled hubby issn't in the best of health. How to save money is not all I have recieved from this site. I have learnt how to manage my time more efficently by having a better cleaning routine (thanks to that wonderful cleaning routine thread on Old Style!). I have discovered different and better ways of communicating with my children by reading lots of advice on the marriage/families board. My girls are starting to realise that if they help out more and tidy as they go we actually get to spend our time together as a family having fun instead of cleaning or arguing!!

Shopping - Using this site has made me think more about what I buy and more importantly to actually USE what I buy instead of letting it go out of date! Everything gets used and I've become much more creative with what I cook. I thought I did really well until I came on here and realised how much more I could do.

We've discovered the benefits of switching to 0% Credit Cards every 6/9 months. AND more importantly - we've stopped spending on them!! I've found that helps!

We've changed our mortgage and are planning a short break with the saving - as I said its not all about 'saving' - its about using it more wisely:D

We've got a long way to go but we're working on it and although life isn't perfect it's certainly improving. For example I'm not in the same league as my friends parents who write every purchase in a little book - everything from a choccy bar to a holiday - to keep control of their finances. But also I'm thankfully nothing like my own parents who's house has been remortgaged so many times it is double my own mortgage and they are never going to finish paying for it! We may have been heading that way but now consider ourselves 'in recovery'.

Hey, I've even got some time off work this week and I'm having some 'me' time instead of cleaning the house 'cos its usually a tip!

Thanks for a fab site Martin but I have to say that the people who've posted have helped me a whole lot more. It would be impossible to name them all - some have helped without realising it as like many people I read threads that others have started and often dont post a question as it has already been asked - I just pinch the advice. They've given me recipes, cleaning tips, savings advice, credit card advice, motgage advice, health advice, reassurance, smiles and a huge amount of 'roflmao' when times aren't so good, freebies, benefits advice, money off vouchers and codes. OMG - listen to me! As I'm now verging on doing a Darius 'Can you feel the love in the room?' I'm going!

Thanks Guys smiley_abct.gif
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...
