I use a chillow and TJ shares it. You an now get a doggy chillow, if they are as good as the human ones you wont go far wrong. I know they are not cheap but as TJ uses my human one I guess they are they are much the same, and mine was/is worth every penny. x

My dog is suffering at the moment too. Spent most of last night panting and pacing around. She sleeps on a folded duvet. Last night i put a large piece of plastic sheet (think my other half had been using it in the garage and this was what has left) down and she slept on that. It helped a little that the fan was on, although it was mostly moving warm air around. Poor thing was really distressed though.:oGetting married 23rd June 2012!!:o0

another one for the cold water bottle here..
my old ginger cat ( 18) is really feeling the heat at the moment... i put a cold water bottle in his bed with a towel on the top and it cooled it down lovely.....
my cats(6) sleep in the kitchen at night time and i used to put their furry/fluffy beds all over but now i put a few towels all over for them but i peeped in last night and some of them were just lying on the cold kitchen worksurface but psyco cat( who is a strange cat and eats cobwebs from the side of the garden fence) well she was lying on the cooker top..... weirdo...0 -
My old golden retriever had this problem of over heating (we lost her on Valentines day) I found a cool coat worked wonder. You soak it in cold water for a couple of minutes ring it out and pop it on the dog. The dog stays dry but is kept really cool with no panting we found it invaluable on hot days out or overnight as she would also sleep in hers.
It feels like a chamiou but as it drys it stiffens up but not horrendously so dog stays comfortable, she loved her coat and would happily wait while we took it off re soaked it wrung out and put back on her. She was not used to wearing a coat but took to this, we found it would last for about 4 to 8 hours before a re soak was required, normally 8 hours at night.

Hosterlady - your cats sound like mine - they do sleep in the strangest of places! They were actually lying on the bed the other night in front of the air conditioning unit (which they normally hate and run and hide from) so just shows how warm it's been. In fact, by the time dog was also positioned in front of it - there wasn't room for me!
Moody Mare - sorry to hear about your loss (((hugs))). Thanks for the link - the coats look quite good (and are reasonably priced) - he has one in the winter so may stand some chance of getting it on!
It's scorching here again today so will be trying the cold water bottles too tonight!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
