Santander Alliance & Leicester Business Acc

Hi all
Looked at my statement today and was shocked to see a £65.83 charge.
So i rang up customer services for business banking and was told as i was over they have charged me £30 and 30% per day for the amount i am overdrawn by.
Yes it was my fault for being overdrawn and i accepted that but is the charges acceptable?
I was over £29 and did not recieve any notification or letters stating i was overdrawn until i checked my statement.
The charges of £65.83 are upto the 16th of June and as the account is overdrawn still by -65.83 i have been told i will be further charged till todays date which would be 30% of £65.83 till i bring the account back into positive.
if i didnt check today, i wouldnt have known as i hardly use the account.
The representative of Santander was rude, unhelpful and didnt know how to explain it and finally cut me off the phone.
What can i do in this situation? i thought every bank should notify you of charges? There has been no communication at all
Thanks

yes it is.if i didnt check today, i wouldnt have known as i hardly use the account.
And that is why you are paying charges. You are not keeping control of your finances. What can i do in this situation?
ask them nicely if they will refund. If its your first error, then most banks will refund. Stantander typically allow one error a year on which they will refund. If you are a frequent offender, they tend not to refund.
if they dont refund then there is nothing you can do about it. Since the banks won the court case, bank charge reclaims are mostly dead in the water except goodwill gestures and financial hardship.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
