  • d try saying you wanted to order something on line as they had an internet exclusive offer but nne in stock online. You noticed there were some at our local store so hoped as you were in need of one they could honour the discount.

After all its another sale so more commission for someone in store. WIll boost their bonus just in time for CHristmas? The worst is a refusal.

  • If it is available on Reserve and Collect you can apply the discount on the internet order and the price you see is the one you pay in store.

If you are unable to do a Reserve and Collect for that item, as the above says - try to get the same discount by negotiation along the very same lines.

Sorry but you can't use codes if you collect from store

If you try it ignores the code - if you pick delivery the code works but if then switch to store collect the price goes back up again !

  • You are absolutely right!!! It allows you to get the discount and switch to collect and reserve (still showing discount) but then when you update basket it's gone !!! If only Hamleys/Sainsburys were as hot !

I know this is off topic but last year I seem to remember a special 10% off everything code for just the first day of the sale - at both Currys and Dixons. Have checked my order history and got a £40 saving on a £400 item. They might be doing the same again so if you know you can't get delivery until after Christmas it might be worth hanging on ordering until after Christmas.

Again this will be for internet sales only IF it does run again.
  • it does state enter code ( home delivery only)

  • The website has a glitch that allows you to input the code, switch to reserve and collect (discount still shows) but once you click "update" it removes the discount.

If only Currys order tracking from their website was as hot - it directs you to a defunct website.

However I cannot fault Currys - the two orders I made Monday are now with DHL - and looking at the order numbers they are processing thousands of orders at the moment - hats off to them.

I really do think that the "bricks and mortar" shops are so desperate this Christmas that if you are buying even modest items you will be able to negotitate a discount. I am far too reserved to do it but places like Jessops are even BEATING internet prices if you ask.

currys and the dsgi group is now commision free.
so no commision for the staff there, and so do not expect them to be overfriendly to close a sale.
    again depends on the advisor.
    good luck anyway.
  • Hi, if you look carefully it doesn't actuallu say the items are with DHL, but that they have delivery instructions at for example Milton Keynes - as I was told to track my order on the 'next day delivery' section and the 'delivery instructions' were there on 19th December, no 'next day delivery' took place - I have a horrible feeling they issue delivery instructions and then DHL collect said items for Currys depot and deliver - when I spoke to Currys Customer Services tonight they had no idea when my package would be delivered but said 'as you're not all that far from Milton Keynes it could be tomorrow' - when I asked why I was directed to track in the 'next day' delivery section she genuinely could offer no explanation - none of the staff you talk to will agree that delivery in time for Christmas was guaranteed (I ordered on 18th and the item was one of those on the list that could be ordered up to 20th for Christmas delivery) -but that they 'aim' to deliver in time. I intend to call them back if my order isn't here by Friday, as I suggested to another poster, I will then ask them to authorise a store to release the item to me (if they have in stock) - may not work but I'll give it a try.

You can get a discount instore but it depends on the Manager.

Earlier in the year i got a cooker and i couldnt order it online but i printed off the basket including the discount voucher showing the total , the manager matched the price and just put it through as a price promise
