Renewal home insurance more expensive than online

Just got my renweal home insurance from LV and it is £50 more expensive. I did it online and it came £50 cheaper, why is that? Last year I bought a new one online from my existing LV, and the quote came out £50 cheaper and I got £20 going through quidco. I am just wondering whether I could do the same, rejecting the written quote LV sent me and then do a complete new quote online. Has anybody done this before, buying home insurance from same provider online instead of accepting written expensive quote? Is this allowed if you do it on a yearly basis? Thanks

Yes, it is "allowed" but most insurers are getting smarter with their online engines to recognise returning customers to ensure their engine serves up the same price as has been quoted in the renewal (or to decline to quote).
As to quidco, you would need to check the T&Cs in the offer but cashback sites should always be considered a bonus and not the driver for buying0
