Hi All
I read somewhere I could get one of the Energy Monitors that clamps to the supply wire free from EON.

Looking at the Energy Fit Page can see some bits on them but not actually how to get them.

Any advice? TIA
What should I put in here that won't upset people.........

    Hi Pieman1972,

You can get an energy fit pack through your online account (you need to have this to be eligible for the monitor).

There is an energy fit link on the left hand side once you have logged in, if you click this you will able to order the monitor.

    Thanks

    Helena :)

I've just been sent one of these. It's dreadful. When it arrived the screen wasn't working properly, so I had to lever it open and tighten some screws. The clock in it seems to lose time. The energy readings are under-reported by at least a factor of 4 and there seems no way to calibrate it.

The software is extremely reluctant to install properly on Windows 7. I ignored the CD that came with it and downloaded a newer version from the EON website. After hours of fiddling about and uninstalling and reinstalling different components, it is kind-of working for me (apart from the slowness and crashes). It can give me a live indication of the current (wrong) reading, but the monitor station won't transfer stored historical information to the computer, rendering the software that I spent so long to install pretty useless.

If I had paid any money for it, I'd have sent it back.

In desperation I downloaded currentcost 0.9.30a from here:
    http://code.google.com/p/currentcostgui/downloads/list
This at least allows me to see the live feed from the device in the form of a graph. This software is also quite crashy and it slowly eats RAM while running, gradually grinding to a halt. Again, currentcost also totally fails to receive historical data from the monitor, but that might be a compatibility issue.

Anyway, I still can't get the device to report correct energy usage, so the data would need to be rescaled appropriately anyway.

Not all it's cracked up to be.

Ah. On closer inspection, the inductive clamp is broken inside. That explains the wrong readings. It must have had some punishment in the postal system. That might even be the source of all the problems I've had with it from the start. :-(

I have one of those monitors and because you can see the usage it's makes you more careful and has saved me money. However the clock does lose time!!

i wouldnt bother, its much more fun to record your meter readings at the same time each day and see your daily use in excel!
