Parking Eye
Hi everyone, hope somebody can advise me here.
I recently recieved a parking fine from a company called Parking Eye at the cost of £90. Im absolutly flabbergasted as to why they have sent me this.
They are a cctv based company so they should be able to see me buying my ticket and putting it in the window. i even left 15 mins before expiry.
I googled the company and this forum was one of the first links that came up and the understanding i got from reading the posts was to ignore it, as its not from the council or government. I 100% believe I am being scammed.
They have my address obviously but haven't even used my name at the top of the letter - although it is similer.

Any advice... at all... would be great.
Thanks
Ell

I was in the same position as you last year albeit with a different company and I nervously followed everyone elses advice and ignored the letter (invoice).
However I was actually in the wrong and outstayed my 'free parking' period at a car park in North London although there was little in the way of warning notices about the parking times and everything was designed to catch as many people out as possible.
I initially got a letter telling me to pay £75 or I could end up in court etc etc and was also given a website link where I could view the photo of my car entering and leaving the car park.
I ignored the 1st letter followed by the second and then a 3rd after which I had a debt collection company write to me claiming that they had now purchased the debt from the first parking company and they would pursue me if I didn't pay, I ignored this letter!
They wrote to me again and again and I ignored all the letters even though the fine increased in value.
I think letter number seven was from yet another debt recovery company and the fine was £150 now but still I ignored this. In the eight and ninth letter they were kindly offering to reduce the ‘fine’ to £99 but I also ignored these.
The last one was back in February and I've heard nothing since then.
If you have the nerve and can stomach half a dozen or more letters though the post then there is a 99% chance they'll go away.
If they did take it further I doubt they’d ever go to court over £90 and as you were in the right then they don’t have a leg to stand on.
If you want I’ll happily give you more info about the contents of the letters I received and the debt recovery companies they were supposedly from.
Good luck and keep your nerve

No. It's a scam. Do not contact them and just ignore all their empty threats. Read this thread in the Parking forum to see the letters you will be ignoring.0 -

Away and have a browse of the parking board - Maybe stick Parking Eye into the search this forum box - You will find literally hundreds of threads all demonstrating the same effective course of action - IGNORE the scamc*nts!

Then read the stickies on PPC's in general and tell everyone you know about the scam.

Had an unsuccessful appeal notice today after trying to be reasonable and showing evidence of using the motorway services facilities relating to my PCN!
So thanks to all on here for pointing out the scam :T0 -
Parking eye are a real company - they operate from Buckshaw Village in Chorley near to where I live (i used to work for a company a few doors down from where they work, so they do exists!). I got "caught" when I went to go for a 4hour speeding awareness course and the parking as only 3hrs even thought I shoukld have been exempt. They do have CCTV in various places monitoring enterances and exits. I also belive they *HAVE* taken somebody to court and have won in the past although I think it might have been a one off to show people "whos boss" as it were.
I went through the appeals process showing my evidence, but they continued to send me letters. I sent one more, again stating the evidence, and advised if they were to try and contact me again regarding the false claim I would take the advise from a solicitor regarding harrisment - they never got back to me after that!
I would only reply if you can 100% prove without a doubt that you stayed within the car park for the time allocated (IE a receipt shortly afterwards showing a fuel fill up down the road....) otherwise just ignore them and see what happens0
