Faulty Zanussi Stainless Steel Hob.

Need some advice please.
Purchased a Zanussi Stainless Steel hob beginning of April from Appliances online.Within a week of using it (and only cleaning it with a warm soapy cloth as advised)weird marks appeared all over the steel top.
I rang Appliancesonline and was told to ring Zanussi who arranged for an engineer to call.Engineer ordered me a new hob top.Within 2 weeks of this being fitted the stains appeared again.Same thing
again, engineer called, new top ordered and fitted.I have been using the 3rd hob top for less than a week and the stains are there again.
Rang Appliances online on Friday to tell them and also to say that I no longer have any confidence in Zanussi hobs and could I exchange for a different make. They said I would once again have to go through Zanussi. So I now have the engineer coming tomorrow.
So what I would like to know is do I have to accept another Zanussi replacement hob or am I within my rights to go back to Appliances online and ask for a different brand hob?I feel like I'm going mad:eek:

  • I would contact appliance direct and tell them that you want a full refund or a different make or hob and explain that as Zanussi have replaced the one you purchased 2 times already, it is obvious that there is a design or manufacturing fault with this particular model.

They may try and fob you off, but you are within your rights for a refund or replacment.

I have a Moffat hob (who are now owned by zanussi I believe) that has the same as you I think (like a marbled looking water mark?) just appeared from cleaning, but nothing abrasive etc was used. Now I know it's a problem with the materials, I may give them a call. Please let me know how you get on. Also, when you called Zanussi, what info did they need? Thanks x
  • Well engineer called today and told me that he had a few customers with the same problem as mine with Zanussi hobs.He didnt understand why Zanussi dont just recall them as they obviously have a fault.
He got in touch with Appliances online and advised them that my hob was once again stained and they rang me this afternoon to arrange for me to choose an alternative hob.I now have a Hotpoint hob being delivered next week.Result:beer:

It may be useful to get in touch with the shop where you originally bought it from before ringing Zanussi.
