Tap water for free- on your travels

This is an interesting idea, but clearly the organisers need to get more businesses to sign up to its site before it is really useful. Checking it for my area reveals that (apparently) you cant get tapwater in the Weald of Kent, which is clearly nonsense. In my experience most pubs and cafes are quite happy to give you tapwater, and if you are asked to pay a small charge ie 50p as another poster mentioned, well thats still cheaper than buying a new bottle of water.Depends how much you want a drink I guess. Looking at it from a Landlords point of view,if you walk into his pub,ask him to fill your water bottle, then leave without buying anything at all, he will feel a bit peeved won't he?0

The discarded plastic is the least of your worries. Think about the fuel used to transport that water from the source to wherever it is being sold!0 -
14 miles away for me :-(Live for today, for tomorrow is promised to no-one.
never complain about growing old,far too many people have been denied that privilege.0 -

I don't know about cold tap water but I do know I've never been refused a hot water refill at a motorway services before. This includes from McDonalds, Starbucks and Costa Coffee.
Furthermore, I don't have a metal cup or flask/bottle but I tried my luck with the paper cup from the tea I bought at the previous service station. For the cost of £3.oo approx I then had unlimited tea up and down the motorway for 4 days as I had tea bags and milk packets in the car already. :j:beer:0 -

It helps to have a toddler in tow....I've never been refused a refill for his water bottle. It doesn't hurt to be optimistic....you can always cry later.
You don't get if you don't ask!0 -
I have never been refused for some tap water, places including Starbucks and Pizza Hut, but I have come across buffets which charge you £1.00 for tap water! ridiculous! we should all be entitled to tap water free of charge, especially if we really need it.0

Interesting idea, not sure if I will actually use it since I always bring a bottle of water from home but I'm sure it could be useful to some.
Love their bottles though, look really cool and much cheaper than other stainless steel thermal bottles. Will get me one of those! :T0 -
