Word starter doesn't recognise printer

If I press Print along the left of word starter it specifically identifies and names my printer with the word 'ready'. This is the default printer in control panel as well. However if I actually try to print it says 'word can't print, no printer installed'.

This is the first time I have attempted to print in Word on this laptop, however I have succesfully printed using IE8. Has anyone any ideas how to solve this problem?

My operating system is Windows 7 home premium

I guess it is something to do with the 64 bit Word and a 32 bit printer driver. I am using 32 bit Explorer to avoid compatibility problems, so that explains why it works on that. I shall see if Canon have a 64 bit driver.

That seems to have done it.
